Noting that there was no consensus on revisions to AB 30 the Governor’s Office asked leadership to keep AB 30 on the desk through the May 24th deadline. The bill will no longer be considered by the Legislature in the 2019 Session. The plan is for the Department Of Conservation and Natural Resources to use the interim before the next legislative session to meet with stakeholders to resolve differences and bring a consensus bill to the legislature in 2021.
CNRWA opposed AB30 as introduced and moved to the neutral position on the amended bill that was passed by the Assembly Committee on Natural Resources, Agriculture and Mining during their work session on April 10th. There was no consensus on the version that was moved to the Senate floor and in the end CNRWA joined other stakeholders in opposition. CNRWA looks forward to joining the Department Of Conservation and Natural Resources and stakeholders for a water future discussion and strategy during the next interim.
