Clark County offers revisions to Southern Nevada Economic Development and Conservation Act
In a November 13th letter to Senator Cortez Masto, Clark County and the Southern Nevada Water Authority offer revisions regarding Sections 702 and 703 of the draft lands bill. The letter which is signed by County Commission Chair Marilyn Kirkpatrick states that they are offering additional clarifications to make it absolutely clear that nothing in these sections shall be interpreted to grant any rights-of-way for SNWA’s groundwater development project or to permit any public water agency to obtain title to federal lands for the purpose of constructing the groundwater development project referenced in right-of-way grant N-78803.
The Central Nevada Regional Water Authority was one of many organizations that had expressed concerns about Sections 702 and 703 in previous versions of SNEDCA. Click here for CNRWA’s letter.
Division of Water Resources to host workshops on revisions to NAC Chapter 533 pursuant to Assembly Bill 62
The Division of Water Resources is hosting three informal workshops throughout the state in November to discuss and receive feedback on conceptual revisions to NAC Chapter 533 pursuant to Assembly Bill 62 enacted in the 2019 Legislative Session. Assembly Bill 62 requires the State Engineer to adopt regulations pertaining to extensions of time for the construction of works to divert water and for placing water to beneficial use. The regulation process will focus on establishing criteria under which extensions of time are granted, with the goal of balancing responsible water planning and water speculation. Humboldt County is CNRWA’s Newest Member
We are proud to announce that Humboldt County is now the ninth member county to join the Central Nevada Regional Water Authority. The CNRWA Board of Directors unanimously approved Humboldt County’s membership at their September 25th meeting following the pasage of resolutions of support by the boards of commisioners in all member counties. CNRWA was created by a 2005 Interlocal Cooperative Agreement between Elko, Esmeralda, Eureka, Lander, Nye, and White Pine Counties out of a desire to ensure that a long term supply of reasonably priced water is available to support agricultural, municipal, recretaional and industral uses within the central hydrographic region. Churchill and Pershing Counties joined CNRWA shortly therafter.
We look forward to Humboldt County’s participation in the Central Nevada Regional Water Authority.
